LAS VEGAS -- Weber State opened the Eller Media Stadium Classic on Friday with a pair of losses, as the Wildcats fell 10-2 to #13 Cal and 8-0 to UNLV.

The Wildcats (0-12) hung with the 13th-ranked Bears early, trailing only 2-1 after three innings. Cal opened the game with a single run in the top of the first, but the Wildcats answered in the bottom of the second when Aubri Chiquete hit her first home run as a Wildcat with a shot to center field off of Marissa Drewery.

Cal put the game away with four runs both the fourth and fifth innings to take a 10-1 lead. The Wildcats put up their final run of the game in the bottom of the fifth. Linnea Ketcher led off the inning with a single to third base. She was advanced to second as Heather Jackson reached on an error, and moved to third on a wild pitch. Abby Bowcutt drove Ketcher home with a ground ball to second base.

UNLV's Jessica O'Connor limited the Wildcats to one hit to lead the Rebels to the win in the nightcap. Her offense gave her plenty of help, scoring eight times between the second and fifth innings.

The Wildcats will face New Mexico State and Southern Utah on Saturday, and then will take on SUU again on Sunday to wrap up the tournament.
