POCATELLO, Idaho -- The Weber State women's tennis team earned its first win of the 2010 season as they pulled out a 4-3 win over Idaho State at Reed Gym.
The Bengals jumped out early on the Wildcats sweeping all three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead, and forcing the Wildcats into needing to win four of six singles matches.
Greyce Farias evened the match for Weber State, as she downed Sophie Dang in straight-sets 6-3, 6-4 in the No. 2 singles match.
The Bengals bounced back to take three-set matches at the No. 3 and 4 spots, putting the Wildcats truly against the wall.
WSU's No. 1 singles player, Keya Jenkins got the Wildcats within a point at 3-2 following her 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 win over Lisel Lewis. Caroline Drugge then evened the score with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Risa Fujiwara at No. 5, putting the match in the hands of freshman Kassia Adamson at No. 6.
Adamson, the younger sister of Jenkins, won the first set 7-5. Idaho State's Therese Karlsson gutted out a 7-6 win in the second set following a 12-10 tiebreaker. Adamson prevailed 6-4 in the deciding set, however, earning her first collegiate singles win.
