OGDEN, Utah -- Weber State University women's soccer head coach Tim Crompton has announced the signing of six local players to National Letters of Intent. Signing with the Wildcats are Alyssa Amano, Kersey Davis, Maria Dore, Bailey Eames, Felicia Sortor and Chelsea Wallis.

"We brought in a solid group of local talent this season," said Crompton. "We believe there is good talent locally and we have focused our recruiting close to home. We're excited about this group, and we can't wait to see how they can make an impact on our team next year. We anticipate very good things from them."

Amano is a 5-6 center midfielder from Layton High School, who has been a member of the Utah Olympic Development Program. She was a team captain for the Lancers as a junior and senior, and was named to the Standard Examiner All-Area Second Team in both 2008 and 2009.

Davis is a 5-8 attacking midfielder from Morgan High School. She was a four time selection to the 3A All-State Team by the Deseret News and helped lead the Trojans to a runner-up finish in the 2009 3A State tournament. Kersey started in all 72 varsity games during her four years, and recorded 135 points with 42 goals and 51 assists. She was a member of the Utah Olympic Development Program 91's traveling team from 2004 to 2007.

Dore is a 5-5 midfielder from Clearfield High School. She was a team captain and MVP her senior year, and was named to the All-Region team as a junior and senior.

Eames, a 5-4 central defender from Davis High School, led the Darts to a State tournament runner-up finish in 2009. She was named to the All-Area First Team in both 2008 and 2009 by the Standard Examiner after being an All-Area Honorable Mention in 2007.

Sortor is a 5-5 forward out of Syracuse High School. She was a 2006 All-Area Honorable Mention, an All-Area and All-State Second Team selection in 2007 and 2008, and a 2009 All-Area Selection and All-State Honorable Mention. She was a member of the State Olympic Development Program from 2006 to 2009 and was held over for the regional pool in 2006.

Wallis is a 5-10 central defender from Viewmont High School, who led the Vikings to the state tournament semifinals in 2006 and 2009 and to the quarterfinals in 2007 and 2008. She was a three-year varsity starter, recording over 3,000 minutes played.

Davis, Eames, Dore and Sortor all played their club soccer with LaRoca, and were teammates on the 2008 Utah State Cup Championship team.
