OGDEN, Utah -- The Weber State men's tennis team improved to 7-10 overall and 4-1 in Big Sky Conference play on Sunday following a dominating sweep of Northern Colorado at the Ogden Athletic Club.
The Wildcats opened the day by winning all three doubles matches. Sascha Kiehne and Simon Unger defeated Calix Van Lier and Rob Edwards 8-1 in the No. 1 match. Henning Hipp and Dave Hintze also scored an 8-1 win over Connor Buchanan and Travis Day at No. 2, while Cole Paterson and Spencer Marchant downed Ryan Lane and Andre Lepine 8-2 at No. 3.
In singles, the Wildcats took all six matches in straight sets to complete the sweep. Unger (No. 1) and Kiehne (No. 3) each did not lose a game, scoring 6-0, 6-0 wins over Van Lier and Lane, respectively. Hipp won 6-2, 6-0 over Edwards at No. 2; Marchant scored a 6-1, 6-0 win over Buchanan at No. 4 and Hintze defeated Day 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5. Ben Rode finished off the singles play with a 7-5, 6-1 win over Lepine at No. 6.
Northern Colorado dropped to 1-13 overall and remained winless in conference play at 0-6.
