OGDEN - Weber State women's tennis had two matches this weekend, picking up it's first win of the season over Portland State and another loss to Nevada.

On Saturday, Weber State defeated Portland State 4-3 for their first win of the season. The match started off with Portland State picking up the doubles point with wins in the No. 1 and No. 3 spots. The Wildcat duo of Morgan Dickason and Sara Parker defeated Taylor Rees and Sally Partington 6-4.

Portland State then went on to pick up wins in the No. 6 and No. 5 spots of singles play. With PSU having a 3-0 overall lead the Wildcats needed to pick up some wins.

Dominique Beauvais put WSU on the board by taking down Georgia Dobell 6-2, 6-1. She was followed by a win in the No. 4 spot by Dickason. Dickason defeated Sally Partington 6-4, 6-4.

Caitlin Herb then picked up a win in the No. 1 spot defeating Siena Peri 7-5, 7-5. With things all tied up 3-3 the match came down to the No. 2 spot where Tereza Pilzova took down Tracy Dong 6-3, 6-3.

"Outstanding team effort against Portland State," said assistant coach Mark Roberts. "Portland State fought hard and the Wildcats had to play some solid tennis to beat them. I'm very proud of the teams effort."

On Sunday, the Wildcats took on the Wolf Pack of Nevada  and fell 5-2. Weber State claimed the doubles points with wins in the No. 1 and No. 3 spots. Pilzova and Herb defeated Blaga Delic and Sheila Morales with a 6-3 score. Beauvais and Devi Hasan defeated Carljin Ketting and Milena  Achlamov 6-3.

The doubles advantage didn't work in favor of the Wildcats as Hasan was the only WIldcat to pick up a win in singles play. In the No. 5 spot, Hasan defeated Achlamov 6-3, 6-2.

Nevada ended up claiming the match with an overall score of 5-2.

"Another great team effort today," Roberts said. "We lost a close match to a very good Nevada team. Our doubles was solid and Devi played a great match to win her singles. We are playing better and better every match and I can't wait to see the girls back at practice next week. We still have a lot of season left and the girls are constantly improving."

Weber State is now 1-9 overall on the season and 1-1 in Big Sky Conference play.
