Weber State women’s basketball took on the Big Sky Conference leader Thursday night and fell 86-62 to the Bears.

The Wildcats started the game off hot with an 8-4 lead in the first two minutes of game play. However, that was the last time the Wildcats would score until 5:48 remaining in the second quarter. WSU went on a 12 minute scoring drought and UNC went on a 21-0 run.

WSU did make a push towards the end of the second quarter scoring 11 points but the damage had been done and WSU trailed 39-22 at half time.

Weber State’s efforts weren’t enough to close the deficit and Northern Colorado claimed an 86-62 victory over the Wildcats.

The Wildcats were led by Emily Drake who had 16 points shooting 6-13 from the field. Kailie Quinn had 14 points, Deeshyra Thomas had 13 and Jaiamoni Welch-Coleman had 12 for Weber State.

WSU shot 42 percent from the field and 30 percent from the three and 62 percent from the free throw line. Northern Colorado out rebounded the Wildcats 39-35 and had 24 assists to WSU’s 14.

Weber State is now 12-12 on the season and 6-7 in Big Sky Conference play. WSU will have another tough game on the road against North Dakota, Saturday at 3:00 p.m. before returning home for the final home games of the season against Idaho and Eastern Washington.
