FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Weber State women’s basketball picked up another big win this weekend taking down Northern Arizona 75-64 Saturday night.
The Lumberjacks jumped on the Wildcats right off the bat with a 22-16 lead at the end of the first quarter and maintained that lead until just one minute left in the first half.
Back to back three pointers by Yarden Danan gave WSU a 37-36 lead going into half time.
With 4:20 left in the third quarter Weber State went on a 6-0 run leaving NAU scoreless for the remainder of the quarter. That run gave WSU a 55-46 lead going into the final quarter of play.
The fourth quarter was close between the two teams as Weber State outscored NAU just 20-18 but the damage had already been done and the Wildcats pulled out the 11 point, 75-64 victory.
Weber State was led by Danan who put up 21 points going 6-10 from the field and 5-8 from the three for a new season high. Jaiamoni Welch-Coleman put up double digits for the second game in a row with 16 on the night and she added the game high of four assists and three steals. Deeshyra Thomas added 10 more for the Wildcats. Kailie Quinn had the game high of seven rebounds for WSU.
Weber State shot 41 percent from the field, 39 percent from beyond the arc and 38 percent from the free throw line. WSU pulled down 38 rebounds, put up 12 assists and seven steals while only having seven turnovers.
Northern Arizona shot 39 percent from the field, 21 percent from the three, and 60 percent from the free throw line. NAU pulled down 47 rebounds and put up 10 assists and two steals with 12 turnovers.
The Wildcats are now 10-11 overall on the season and now sit at 4-6 in Big Sky Conference play. WSU will return home to host two of the final four games at the Dee Events Center with Sacramento State and Portland State.
Thursday’s game against Sacramento State will be the second Field Trip Day of the season.
