OGDEN – Weber State women’s basketball dropped a tough one to Cal State Northridge falling 89-79 Friday night.
Emily Drake started the game off draining three shots from beyond the arc in the first five minutes. At the end of the first quarter things were all tied up at 13-13.
CSUN took off in early in the second quarter going on a 10-2 run. Back to back three balls by Yarden Danan brought the score back within two points at 23-21. A pair of free throws by Emily Drake tied things back up at 30-30 with 2:46 left in the first half.
The score was 39-34 at half time and CSUN started the third quarter by pushing their lead to 11 points. The Wildcats brought things back within three points with one minute to go in the third quarter but the Matadors went on a 5-0 run to take a 61-53 lead at the end of the quarter.
Weber State couldn’t catch up in the fourth quarter and the Matadors claimed an 89-78 victory.
Adams pulled down 11 rebounds and put up nine points to help out the Wildcats. Kailie Quinn dropped five assists for WSU’s offense.
Weber State shot 26-81 from the field, 9-31 from the three and 17-21 from the free throw line. The Wildcats pulled down 37 boards, 12 assists and nine steals. WSU had 5 turnovers to CSUN’s 19 but only scored 12 points off those turnovers.
CSUN’s Channon Fluker put up 32 points against the Wildcats going 12-16 from the field. CSUN shot 31-61 from the field, 9-16 from the three and 18-22 from the free throw line. The Matadors pulled down 52 rebounds and had 24 assists and only one steal.
Weber State hits the road for another in-state rivalry game against University of Utah Dec. 17 before returning home for the annual kids game Dec. 19 against Fresno State.
