Former Weber State All-American runner Lindsey Anderson is in her first season as an assistant coach at Weber State. She will work with both men’s and women’s middle and long distance runners. Anderson finished her caeer at Weber State in June 2007 and will now serve as an assistant coach for the distance runners.  While still a student-athlete Lindsey coached the Morgan High School cross country teams while attending school full-time and running herself.

In July 2008 Anderson became the first athlete from Weber State to qualify for the Summer Olympics.  She finished second overall in the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the US Olympic Trials, posting a personal best time of 9:30.75, a career best by over nine seconds, to earn a spot on the US Olympic Team for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. 

Lindsey finisher her Weber State career by earning All-American honors in the steeplechase at the 2007 NCAA Outdoor Championships.  She ended her career holding four school records in indoor, outdoor, and cross country, and earned All-American honors twice. As a senior she won five Big Sky titles in indoor and outdoor track.  As an athlete Lindsey was a nine-time Big Sky Conference Champion, a two-time NCAA All-American and set the NCAA record in the 3,000 meter steeplechase and finished second at the NCAA Championships. Lindsey placed third in the USA Track and Field National Championships earning a spot on the United States Team to the 2007 World Track and Field Championships in Osaka, Japan. She holds Weber State school records in the 3,000 meter steeplechase 9:39.95 the 5,000 meters 16:00.77, and the 10,000 meters 33:16.12.

Anderson was honored with the Weber State Female Career Achievement Award in 2007 and was also named the Weber State Female Athlete of the Year for the 2006-07 season. She also was honored as a Big Sky Scholar Athlete during her senior year. In June 2007 she was named to the ESPN The Magazine CoSIDA Track and Field/Cross country Academic All-American Second Team.  She was also choosen as the Big Sky Conference representative for the NCAA Woman of the Year award.   

2007: Outdoor - Lindsey earned All-American honors in the steeplechase at the NCAA Outdoor Track Championships in Sacramento, to end her career...She posted a time of 9:46.48 in the finals of the steeplechase to finish second overall...Earlier in the season she set an NCAA record in the steeplechase by posting a time of 9:39.95 on April 29 at a meet at Stanford, but that record was broken at the NCAA Championships...The time automatically qualifies her for the US Olympic Trials...She won the title in the steeplechase at the NCAA West Region Championships in Eugene, Oregon, earning All-Region honors...Posted a time of 9:51.51 to win the event by nearly 20 seconds...She became the first Wildcat to ever win an NCAA region title...Anderson also qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 10,000 meters when she set a school record time of 33:16.12 in the first outdoor meet of the year at Stanford...That time also ranks as the second best in Big Sky Conference history...At the Big Sky Championships in Pocatello, Idaho Anderson won three events and was named the Athlete of the Meet...She took first place in the steeplechase, 5,000 meters, and 10,000 meters to become the first athlete in league history to win all three of those distance events at the same championship...Anderson totaled 30 points for the Wildcats and earned Outdoor Athlete of the Meet honors for the second time in her career...She finished her outdoor career with 69 points in Big Sky meets, the second most points of any Wildcat in school history...Anderson was named Big Sky Athlete of the Week three times during the year, giving her 12 times in her career...Was also named the USTFCCCA Mountain District Co-Women's Athlete of the Year...Indoor - Lindsey capped an incredible senior indoor track season by winning All-American honors for the first time in her career...She finished seventh overall in the 5,000 meters at the NCAA Indoor Championships in March, to claim All-American honors...She posted a time of 16:00.77, to break her own school record...The time is also the second best in Big Sky Conference history...Lindsey was the fifth American finisher in the race and she became the first Wildcat in five years to win All-American honors in indoor track and field...Earlier in the year Anderson won two titles at the Big Sky Conference Championships in Bozeman, Montana, helping the Wildcats win the meet...She won the 3,000 meters with a time of 9:54.97 and also took first place in the 5,000 meters at 17:05.08...She totaled 20 points in the meet and was named the Big Sky Women's Track Athlete of the Meet...Earlier in the year in Bozeman, she posted a career-best time of 9:38.50 in the 3,000 meters, the second best time in school history...That time ranks as the eighth best time in Big Sky history...Lindsey was named the Big Sky Track Athlete of the Week three times during the year, in addition to the Conference Athlete of the Meet at the Big Sky Championships.

 

2006: Cross Country - Was Weber State's top runner in six of the seven meets during the season...Finished fourth overall at the NCAA Mountain Regionals in Albuquerque, New Mexico with a time of 20:59.3 on the 6K course to earn All-Region honors and helped the Weber State women's team qualify for the NCAA Championships for the first time in her career...At the NCAA Championships Lindsey finished 62nd overall in the race of 253 runners with a time of 21:45.4 on the 6K course....Was the top Big Sky finisher at the NCAA Championship...The 62nd place finish is the fourth best by a Weber State runner at the national championship...Started the cross country season by winning her first two meets, at Utah State and Montana State...Finished 12th overall at the prestigious Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Indiana with a time of 17:11 on the 5K course...Also came in 28th overall at the NCAA Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, Indiana...At the Big Sky Championship she fought a severe chest cold and ended up taking 24th overall with a time of 18:42.3, but Weber State still won the Big Sky Championship...It was the only time in her career she did not win Big Sky All-Conference honors in cross country...Was named the Big Sky Cross Country Runner of the Week three times during the season.

 

2006: Outdoor - Participated in three events at the Big Sky Championships in Cheney, Washington...Earned All-Conference honors by taking second in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 10:46.14...Also took sixth in the 10,000 meters with a career best time of 37:20.45 to score 11 points at the meet, the fourth most on the WSU team...Earlier in the season posted a seasonal best time of 10:36.11 in the steeplechase to qualify for the NCAA West Regionals...At the meet in Provo she earned All-Region honors in the steeplechase by finishing eighth with a time of 10:53.93.

 

Indoor - Competed in three events for Weber State at the Big Sky Championships in Flagstaff, Arizona...Took seventh place in the 5,000 meters with a time of 18:56.59...Finished ninth in the 3,000 meters and was part of the WSU distance medley relay team that took third place.

 

2005: Cross Country - Was Weber State's second runner all season long...Started the year finishing third at the Utah State meet and the BYU Classic...Took fourth at the Montana Invitational October 1 in Missoula...Finished in fourth place with a time of 18:09.3 at the Big Sky Championships in Ogden to earn All-Conference honors for third straight year...Finished 22nd at the NCAA Mountain Regionals in Provo, Utah...Was named to the Big Sky Conference All-Academic Team.

 

2005: Outdoor - Had a tremendous Outdoor season for the Wildcats and was named the Team MVP for the season...Qualified for the Big Sky Championship in three events: Steeplechase, 5,000 meters, and 10,000 meters...Was named Big Sky Conference Track Athlete of the Week three times during the season...Won the Steeplechase in three of the five regular season meets and placed in the top three in all five...She was named Big Sky Track Athlete of the Meet at the Big Sky Championship in Flagstaff, Arizona after scoring 24 points in the meet, more than any other athlete, and the most by a WSU athlete since 2001...Anderson took first place in the Steeplechase with a time of 11:23.29, was second in the 10,000 meters at 38:57.17, and took third in the 5,000 meters at 18:41.87 to earn All-Conference honors in all three events....Qualified for the NCAA West Regionals where she finished fourth in the Steeplechase and earned an automatic berth to the NCAA Championships...Became the only Wildcat to qualify for the NCAA's...Finished 19th in the Steeplechase at the NCAA Championships and failed to advance to the finals...Posted a career-best time in the Steeplechase at the NCAA meet, running 10:20.91, the third best mark in Weber State history and the ninth best in Big Sky Conference history.

Indoor - Qualified for the Big Sky Championship in three events and competed in two events...Finished second in the 3,000 meters with a time of 10:10.75 and was third in the 5,000 meters at 17:46.88 as the Wildcats won their fourth straight Big Sky title at the Big Sky meet in Pocatello, Idaho...Both times were personal bests.

 

2004: Outdoor - Finished fifth in the 3000 meter Steeplechase with a time of 11:22.11 at the Big Sky Championship in Ogden...Turned in a time of 10:48.42 in the Steeplechase at the NCAA West Regionals in Northridge, California which ranks in the Weber State Top 10.

Indoor - Finished seventh in the 3000 meters with a time of 10:28.15 at the Big Sky Championships in Bozeman, Montana...Also ran with the Weber State Distance Medley Relay team that took third at 12:20.31.

 

High School: Went to Morgan High School in Morgan, Utah...Earned four letters in track, four in soccer, three in cross country, and two in basketball...Was a five-time state champion in both track and cross country...Ran high school best times of 5:09 in the mile and 11:11 in the two-mile run.

 

Personal: Formerly Lindsey Olson, she is married to Mark Anderson...Parents are Scott and Sherille Olson...Has four younger siblings...Born May 23, 1985 in Payson, Utah.
