OGDEN – After the best weekend in Wildcat sprinter history, senior Alex Reece has been named Big Sky Conference Men’s Track Athlete of the Week.

On Friday, Reece, a transfer from Baylor University and a native of Houston, Texas, ran a school-record 10.21 in the 100 meters, breaking a 13-year-old record of 10.35 set by Wiley King in 2004, at the Utah/Weber State Spring Classic. The time is tied for the second-fastest in Big Sky Conference history.

On Saturday, he ran a school-record 20.79 in the 200 meters at Chick Hislop Track, breaking a 19-year-old record of 20.86 set by Chanson Memmott in 1998.

Both of Reece’s times are the fastest in the Big Sky Conference this year, with his 100-meter time sitting at tenth in NCAA Western Region Qualifying, and his 200-meter time sitting 17th in the Western Region.

Weber State will be back in action this weekend at the Mark Faldmo Invitational in Logan, Utah, and the Mt. Sac Relays in Walnut, Calif.
