NEW ORLEANS, La. – Not only were the Wildcats getting things done on the course, they were getting it done in the classroom too.
The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association recently announced its 2016 All-Academic teams and individual honorees.
Both Weber State’s men’s and women’s cross country teams qualified for the team award, which requires a minimum team GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
The Wildcat women’s squad boasted a 3.63 team GPA, while the men’s team had a 3.23 to earn the honor.
Individually, two members of the Wildcat women’s squad earned All-Academic honors
2016 Big Sky Conference champion and NCAA championship participant Ellie Child, was joined by two-time honoree Hailey Whetton in receiving the award.
In order to qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, athletes must finish in the top 25 or 10 percent at regionals, or All-American at the national meet, in addition to having a 3.25 or better GPA.
