Played two seasons at BYU...Redshirted in 2009 and then left to serve an LDS Church Mission to Houston Texas...Saw action in 11 games for the Wildcats in 2012 and 2013...As a redshirt freshman in 2012 he played in eight games for the Cougars and played in three games as a sophomore in 2013...Was also recruited by Utah, Colorado, LSU, Arizona State and Hawaii.

Graduated from Timpview High School where he played for coach Louis Wong...Earned First Team All-State honors as a junior...Was a three-year starter but was forced to miss his senior season due to a shoulder injury...Was part of the Timpview team that won back-to-back Utah state 4A titles during his sophomore and junior seasons...Helped the Thunderbirds to an undefeated season during his junior year.
