The Weber State women’s basketball team suffered its first loss of the 2013-14 season on Friday night at Seton Hall, 78-61.

Sophomore center Jalen Carpenter led the way for the Wildcats with 17 points. Carpenter missed her third double-double of the season by one rebound as she pulled down nine on the night.

Carpenter went 6-of-17 from the field and 5-for-6 from the free throw line.

Senior Amanda Hughes had nine points while both sophomore Des Ramos and freshman Deeshyra Thomas both had eight points.

Seton Hall outrebounded the Wildcats, 53-39 and outshot the Cats from the floor. Seton Hall shot 42.6 percent from the field while Weber State shot just 31.9 percent.

Weber State took care of the ball much better than Seton Hall did in the game with Weber State turning it over 18 times to the Pirates’ 26 turnovers. Both teams had 10 steals.

The Wildcats fall to 2-1 on the season and will play at Army on Sunday morning at 11:00 MT.
