OGDEN, Utah - The Weber State women’s basketball team impressed in their one and only exhibition game of the 2013-14 season, beating Adams State 75-46.
Sophomore Regina Okoye led all scorers with 13 points while senior Laura Palmere added 10 points and freshman Deeshyra Thomas picked up nine points. Amanda Hughes also poured in nine points of her own while pulling down 10 rebounds.
The Cats struggled from the field in the first half, shooting 34.5 percent, but shot much better in the second half. Weber State shot 50 percent in the second half to end the game at 41.5 percent.
Weber State got to the line early and often, going 27-for-39 from the line in the game. The Cats had 12 assists to 13 turnovers. Weber State also forced 24 Adams State turnovers.
Junior transfer Zakiyyah Shahid-Martin, playing in her first game as a Wildcat, scored five points. Martin was hampered by some early foul trouble and ended up playing only 16 minutes.
Weber State outrebounded Adams State, 42-37.
The Wildcats will officially open the season on Friday, November 8, at 3 p.m. against Walla Walla at the Dee Events Center.
