The Weber State football team continued its spring practice with another scrimmage Saturday morning at Stewart Stadium. Both sides of the ball made progress in the approximately 45-play scrimmage as the ‘Cats approach their final week of spring practice.
On the offensive side senior quarterback Jordan Adamczyk threw for 65 yards and newcomer Alfonso Medina threw for 40 yards. He also had a 15-yard touchdown pass to Braden Corpus. Ben Maraz and Jadrian Clark also saw action at the quarterback spot for the Wildcats.
Senior Josh Booker had nine carries for 23 yards, including a one-yard touchdown run. Tony Schmitz also had four carries for the ‘Cats.
The Wildcats had several players make plays on the defensive end including two interceptions. Devonte Johnson returned an interception for a touchdown and Daniel Henry recorded a touchdown. Jalen Ames, Chris Wheeler and Siamani Harris all had tackles for loss.
Shaun McClain made a couple of field goals on special teams.
“We limited our reps a little bit because of some of our injuries but I thought we were pretty effective and efficient today,” said WSU head coach Jody Sears. “We have a lot of our younger players that are getting more reps and I thought both sides showed good things today. It’s good to see our leadership coming into place.”
Several Wildcats were held out of Saturday’s scrimmage due to injury.
The Wildcats will conclude the spring season with the annual Purple and White game next Saturday, April 13 at 6:00 p.m. at Stewart Stadium.
