Weber State will host Oral Roberts Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the Collegeinsider.com. The Wildcats and Golden Eagles will tipoff at 7:00 p.m. at the Dee Events Center with the winner advancing to the semifinals of the tournament.
The Wildcats are 28-6 on the season and opened CIT play with home wins over Cal Poly and Air Force. The 28 wins is a new school and Big Sky record for most wins in a season. Scott Bamforth and Kyle Tresnak each had 21 points in Saturday’s win over Air Force.
Oral Roberts is 20-14 on the season and coming off a 76-62 win over UC Irvine Monday night in the second round of the CIT. The Golden Eagles finished third in the Southland Conference at 13-5. They lost to Sam Houston State in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament. ORU won 84-76 at UT Arlington in the first round of the CIT last week.
This season the Golden Eagles have been led by senior Warren Niles who ranks 26th in the country in scoring at 18.9 points per game. Niles and senior Damen Bell-Holter were named to the Southland All-Conference first team. Former University of Utah player Shawn Glover was named to the second team. ORU is coached by Scott Sutton who is in his 12th season at Oral Roberts.
The two teams met last month with Weber State winning 70-66 at Oral Roberts in the Ramada Bracketbusters game.
Tickets for Wednesday’s CIT game are on sale now at the Dee Events Center Ticket Office. Tickets will be $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for youth (17 and under) and seniors (65 and older).
