The Weber State University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will hold a shoe drive for local charities at upcoming Weber State men’s basketball home games.
The SAAC committee will be collecting new and old shoes of any size to be donated to the local Women’s Shelter and Striders, which also has a shoe drive to benefit the Odyssey House, Ogden Rescue Mission, Davis County Women’s Shelter, and third world countries. The shoe drive is part of a Big Sky Conference-wide service project.
The collections will take place at each of the upcoming four men’s basketball home games on Feb. 9 (Southern Utah), Feb. 11 (Idaho State), Feb. 14 (Montana) and Feb. 16 (Montana State). All Wildcat fans are encouraged to bring shoes to the games. Monetary donations for charity will also be accepted. Wildcat student-athletes will be present at every entrance at the Dee Events Center to take shoe and monetary donations.
At halftime of the Feb. 9 game against Southern Utah, SAAC will be holding a paper airplane contest. Any fans donating shoes or $5.00 that night will get an opportunity to enter the paper airplane contest at halftime with the winner receiving a new iPad Mini.
Bring a shoe donation and come support the Weber State Student-Athlete Advisory Committee at Weber State basketball games.
