SALT LAKE CITY -- The Weber State men's tennis team dropped to 0-2 on the season on Saturday with a 6-1 loss to the University of Utah at the Eccles Tennis Center.

The Wildcats jumped out to an early lead after taking the doubles point, but the Utes rallied to sweep the singles competition.

In doubles, Utah took the No. 1 match, but WSU bounced back as Oliver Good and Caio Poitena defeated Alejandro Medinilla and Cedric Willems 8-3 at No. 2. Ryan Garner and Anthony Trabert clinched the point for the Wildcats with an 8-6 win over Rafael Davidan and Dmytro Mamedor at No. 3.

"I was extremely pleased with the team's performance today," said WSU head coach Brad Ferreira. "They all competed really well against a strong PAC 12 team, that boast two nationally ranked singles players.  We're very young, starting three freshmen, so matches like today are good experience.  The performance today was already much better than a good showing than against BYU last week, and if this keeps up the team will be looking very good going into conference match play."
