After two seasons with the Wildcats, Joel has played in 67 career games. He was named the Big Sky Defensive Player of the Year in 2014 and earned All-Conference honors. He currently ranks 12th in WSU history in career rebounds with 592 after finishing third in the nation in rebounding as a sophomore. He has the 10th best career rebounding average in school history. He also ranks sixth in Weber State history in career blocks with 87 and has the fourth best career blocks average.
During the summer of 2014, following his sophomore season, he was invited to tryout for the Ukraine National Basketball Team in preparations for the Basketball World Cup. He participated with the national team, coached by former NBA Coach of the Year Mike Fratello, but his tryout was cut short due to an injury.

2012-13 (Freshman) Played in all 37 games as a true freshmen for the Wildcats and established himself as one of the top big men in the league...Helped lead the Wildcats to a record-setting 30-7 record...The 37 games played is tied for the most ever in a season in Big Sky history...Averaged 7.0 points per game on the year and scored in double figures 11 times...Had season-highs of 16 points against Arizona Christian and the University of the Southwest...Shot a perfect 8-8 from the field in the Southwest win...Led the team and finished fourth in the Big Sky in rebounding at 7.1 per game, totaling 262 boards on the year...Posted double figures in rebounds nine times on the year, the most of any Wildcat...Had a career-high 17 rebounds in a win at Southern Utah in January...Finished fourth in the Big Sky in blocks with an average of 1.7 per game...Recorded 62 blocks on the season, the third most in a year in Weber State history...Recorded four double-doubles on the season, tied for the most of any Wildcat...Had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds in his first collegiate game against Arizona Christian on Nov. 11...Shot 57.8 percent from the field on the season, the second best of any Wildcat.
Keller Central High School Was highly recruited out of high school and signed with Weber State in the fall of 2011..Graduated from Keller Central High School in 2012 where he played for coach Kit Pehl...As a junior in 2010-11 he averaged 9.9 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game...As a senior in 2011-12 he averaged 17.8 points and 12.9 rebounds per game in leading the Chargers to a 27-8 overall record and a 13-1 league record...Scored in double figures in all but four games as a senior and scored 20 or more points 13 times...Shot 67 percent from the field...Was named District Champion, Team MVP, and Defensive Player of the Year...He led the state 5A in scoring and rebounding and earned First Team All-State honors.
