PROVO, Utah -- The Weber State women's tennis team opened up the 2012 fall season this week, with play at the BYU Invitational.
The Wildcats scored three strong wins in doubles play, while Annika Karlsen advanced to the final day in singles.
Nittaya Phonharath and Michelle Warwick posted the first win for Weber State on Thursday, earning an 8-3 win over the Utah State duo of Amber Stuhlmann and Julie Tukuafu. Kristi Elmer and Thais Kurer also recorded a first-day win in doubles, taking down Morgan Anderson and Aubrey Paul of BYU 8-5.
Annika Karlsen and Ashley Tanner came out on Friday, scoring a 8-0 sweep of teammates Carli Lloyd and Megan Rindlisbacher in doubles consolation play.
Karlsen also advanced in the back draw of the singles bracket, downing Ashley Stuhlmann of Utah State 6-0, 6-1.
