The Wildcat women's team captured the 2012 Big Sky Indoor title.

The Weber State women’s track and field team posted the third best team G.P.A. in the nation.  The Wildcats were honored as one of 171 institutions that earned All-Academic honors by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).  In addition WSU’s men’s and women’s track and field had seven student-athletes named to the All-Academic teams for the 2012 season. 

The Wildcat women’s squad posted a 3.52 cumulative team G.P.A. for the spring 2012 semester to rank third in the country.  Only Duke (3.58) and Wofford (3.53) were ranked above Weber State.  WSU was one of five schools from the Big Sky to receive team All-Academic honors. 

In addition Kayla Blackford, Sarah Callister, Amber Henry, Laken Hintze and Taylor Thornley were named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic team on the women’s side and Zach Parry and Trevor Ricks received the honor on the men’s side.  All seven Wildcats earned All-Conference honors for the Wildcats during the season.   

A total of 676 female student-athletes representing 171 NCAA Division I institutions comprise the group of student-athlete honorees.  A total of 431 student-athletes representing 148 institutions were on the men’s squad announced one day earlier. 

The Weber State women’s track and field team captured the Big Sky title during the 2012 indoor season.  Sarah Callister was honored as the Female Track Athlete of the Meet after capturing two titles.  Amber Henry also won two titles in the meet.  In the outdoor season Callister won two more titles, winning the conference title in the 5,000 and 10,000 meters for the third straight season.  Henry won the title in the mile and steeplechase and was named Athlete of the Meet.  She also earned All-American honors in the steeplechase at the NCAA Championships.

Parry and Ricks both earned All-Conference honors for the Wildcat men’s squad as the team finished third at the Big Sky Outdoor Championships. 

To qualify for the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either of the following athletic standards: for the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA Proof of Performance lists; for the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships.
