OGDEN -- The Weber State football team will conclude spring practice with
the annual spring Purple and White game this Saturday, April 14. The game will
begin at 6:00 p.m. at Stewart Stadium and admission is free.
New head coach John L. Smith will lead the Wildcats into the spring game
which will be a scrimmage of offense against defense.
Prior to Saturday’s scrimmage the Weber State Wildcat Club will host a
Chalk Talk beginning at 4:30 p.m. on the fourth floor of the Stadium. Coach
Smith will introduce his new coaching staff and talk about the spring practice
for the Wildcats. The Chalk Talk is open to all fans.
The Wildcats are coming off a 5-6 record in 2011 and were 5-3 in Big Sky
play, tied for third in the league standings.
Weber State opens up the 2012 season on Saturday, September 1 when they
play at Fresno State. The next week they will play at BYU with the home opener
set for Sept. 15 against McNeese State. The ‘Cats will open Big Sky play with a
Homecoming game against Eastern Washington on Sept. 22.
Also on Saturday Weber State will host the Wildcat Outdoor Open track meet
from 11:00-2:00 at Stewart Stadium. The WSU softball team will also host a
doubleheader with Idaho State beginning at noon at Wildcat Softball Field.
Admission is free to all of Saturday’s events.
