Progress Continues on Stewart Stadium Field and Track

Progress is continuing at Stewart Stadium and the 2011 Weber State football season will have a new look for fans coming to games.  A new artificial turf field is being installed and will be in place for the 2011 season.

Construction began in April and the field should be completed by early July with the track portion set to finished later in July.  The Wildcats will open the 2011 home season September 17 when they host Sacramento State in the first Big Sky game of the season.

Fans can watch the progress of the construction at Stewart Stadium by watching a live web cam, available at WeberStateSports.com.

The improvements at Stewart Stadium and the Chick Hislop track are being funded from a generous donation from Robert and Annette Marquardt.

Earlier this year Weber State conducted a fan contest where fans were asked to submit ideas for the new field design.   WSU received over 50 submissions for ideas.  Several submissions were from out of state and even one from outside of the United States.  There was even a submission from a two-year-old.

Ryan Hennessy of West Point was selected with the top design of the submissions.  He will receive two season tickets for the 2011 Wildcat football season.

Season tickets for the 2011 season are on sale now.  Season tickets start at just $40.00 a person.  A family or business pass for up to six people is also available for just $95.00.  That’s less than $4.00 per person per game.

Four Big Sky games and a game against future Big Sky member and in-state rival Southern Utah highlight the 2011 home schedule.  Reserve your tickets today and make sure you are part of the Wildcats this season.  Call the ticket office at 801-626-8500 or visit weberstatetickets.com to order today.
