LAS VEGAS - Weber State's mens tennis team fell 4-1 in an intense match to New Meixco State Sunday morning.
The doubles point was decided by the No. 1 spot. Shao-Po Yin and Stefan Cooper had a close match. With things tied at six all it went into a tie breaker. The Wildcat duo couldn't quite pull out the win and fell 7-6. New Mexico State had the advantage going into singles play.
Singles play didn't start in favor of Weber State as NMSU picked up wins in the No. 6 and No. 4 spots.
Cooper came up big in singles play with a victory in the No. 2 spot. He defeated Luis Pliego Flores 6-1, 7-6 for what ended up being WSU's lone point of the match.
NMSU clinched the match with a win in the No. 1 spot. Yin forced the match to go into three sets but couldn't pull it out falling 6-2, 4-6, 6-3.
The rest of the matches went unfinished on the day.
Weber State is now 3-4 overall on the season and will have a little break before hosting four straight matches. The next match will start Big Sky play for the Wildcats as they host Northern Colorado Feb. 26.
