ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. — The Weber State men's golf team wrapped up the Cal Poly Shootout on Tuesday with a three-round total of 1120, finishing in eighth place on the team leaderboard.

The Wildcats shot an opening round 382 on Monday in the unique start-six, score-five format. WSU then finished up with matching rounds of 369 on Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning.

Alex Herzog came out on fire, posting a three-under-par 69 on Monday morning to post the second best score of the opening round. An even-par 72 in the afternoon left him in the top-10, but a final round 77 dropped him into a 19th place finish. His two-over-par 218 led the Wildcats.

UC Santa Barbara shot 1058 to rout the field. The Gauchos finished 24 shots clear of second place UC Irvine, who was led by individual medalist David Kim. Cal Poly finished one more shot back in third place. Kim's eight-under-par total of 208 was one shot better than Luis Medina of New Mexico State, who claimed second place individually.

WSU's Kyler Dearden shot a two-under-par 70 in the final round to jump into a tie for 27th place with a total of 223 after rounds of 79 and 74 on Monday.

Lee Shepherd and Sean Badger each shot 224 to finish one shot back of Dearden in a tie for 30th place. Shepherd also finished in red figures in the final round with a one-under-par 71. Boston Watts and Todd Fought rounded out the Wildcats' team, with the pair tying for 49th place at 233.
