OGDEN, Utah - The new-look Wildcats grabbed the keys and took the car out for a spin on Saturday night.
In front of a solid preseason crowd, the Weber State University volleyball team introduced the squad to a match-day atmosphere in the annual Purple and White scrimmage match.
Led by sophomore Audrey Biggs' 26-kill effort, the White team rallied from a 1-0 deficit to capture the match in four sets at Swenson Gym on Saturday night.
"It was great to get out and play," Biggs said. "We've been working hard in practice, and the coaches have done a great job of working with us and helping us to get things fixed."
Senior Dama Cox, last season's Big Sky Conference Newcomer of the Year, added seven kills for the White team. Senior Laurel Bodily had 13 digs to lead her side.
Redshirt-freshman Mariah Katoa led the Purple team with 10 kills, while redshirt-freshman Elysse Virden added seven.
Junior Piper Wahlin had 13 digs for the Purple team.
"It's big to get out and have a match like this in front of a crowd and kind of get used to it," Weber State coach Tom Peterson said. "We've been working hard with two-a-days and getting ready for the season. I think we've got the pieces, it's just a matter of putting it all together at the same time."
Weber State will open up its 2012 season on Friday at Utah State Invitational in Logan, Utah, against the University of Portland. First serve is set for 4:30 p.m.
