Chelsea Burns has been part of the Weber State Athletics Department since February 2013. In August of 2015 she transitioned to an Academic Advisor.
As the Academic Advisor, Burns will assist in administering the academic and development programs to student-athletes to enhance their overall collegiate experience. She monitors the continuing academic eligibility for women’s basketball, soccer, softball and men and women’s golf.
Burns, whose Bachelor’s degree from Utah State University is in Law and Constitutional Studies, and Master’s of Education is in Physical and Sport Education, began working in athletics in the compliance department and as a mentor in academic services.
Burns was a four-year letter winner for Utah State’s women’s basketball team before her career was cut short by medical disqualification after multiple serious knee injuries. During this time, she was awarded All-WAC Academic Award twice, a Whitesides Scholar-Athlete four times, and a recipient of the Big Blue Scholarship Fund Award.
Burns was born and raised in Carlsbad, California, and enjoys many different things – from hiking in Yosemite National Park to yoga to competitive swimming. Her younger brother, a UC Berkeley alumnus, lives and works in Stockton, California.
